The Brave Boy – The Intelligence of a Boy (saved a train)

Ratan, a smart 10-year-old boy, lived in a village where the railway passed through. One day, he was walking near the railway and came to a bridge. He saw that the bridge was badly damaged by floodwater. Suddenly, he noticed a train coming at full speed from the opposite direction. It was carrying many passengers and goods. Ratan became worried and didn’t know what to do.

Then, a clever idea came to his mind. He remembered that a stationmaster uses a red flag to stop trains. Since he was wearing a red shirt, he decided to use it as a signal. Ratan quickly took off his shirt and started waving it in the air. The train driver saw the red signal and understood there was danger ahead. He stopped the train just in time, before it reached the broken bridge.

The driver and passengers got off the train to see what had happened. They were amazed at Ratan’s quick thinking and bravery. The story of the smart boy spread quickly and was published in many newspapers. The communication minister visited Ratan’s house to meet him. The minister was very impressed by Ratan and rewarded him for his heroic act.

Ratan’s courage and intelligence saved many lives that day, making him a true hero in his village.

THE REAL HAPPINESS LYING IN HELPING OTHERS / THE MORAL DUTY OF A HUMAN BEING

Saturday  was a memorable day in my life. I went to the river for taking a bath. The bathing place was not crowded enough then, Only two boys were bathing at that time. Suddenly one of them fell into deep water and cried out loudly for help. I was then walking along the river-side. The boy was drowning at about a hundred yards distant from me. As soon as I heard the loud cry from the river, I understood the matter and without wasting a second I jumped into the river. The boy was struggling hard to keep himself above water. But he could not do so for long. When I reached the spot, I found only the movement of water but no sign of the boy. I hurriedly dived and went under deep water. I saw the boy going downwards and quickly held his body. When I reached the shore with the boy, there was a great crowd waiting for us. As I was trying, some persons as well as the boy's parents took the boy from my shoulder and rushed to a nearby medical centre. The whole crowd appreciated me greatly for my act. His parents offered me special thanks and gratitude. Each and everybody spoke of me highly as a brave and helpful youth. But I think that it was my moral duty to save a dying boy.

The Real Happiness Lies in Helping Others / Rescued a drowning boy

Last Saturday was a memorable day in my life. I had gone to the river to take a bath. At that time, the bathing area was not very crowded. Only two boys were playing in the water. Suddenly, one of them lost his balance and fell into deep water. He started struggling and cried out loudly for help.

I was walking along the riverbank when I heard the cry. Looking towards the river, I quickly realized that the boy was drowning. He was about a hundred yards away from me. Without wasting a second, I jumped into the river and swam towards him as fast as I could.

By the time I reached the spot, the boy had already disappeared under the water. I could only see the movement of waves where he had gone down. Without hesitation, I took a deep breath and dived into the water. Below the surface, I saw the boy sinking deeper. Without delay, I grabbed him firmly and pulled him up.

Reaching the shore with the boy in my arms, I saw a huge crowd waiting anxiously. I was exhausted, but some people, along with the boy’s parents, rushed forward and took him from my shoulders. They immediately carried him to a nearby medical center.

The entire crowd appreciated my effort. The boy’s parents were overwhelmed with gratitude and thanked me sincerely. Many people praised me, calling me a brave and kind-hearted young man. However, I did not consider my action to be something extraordinary. I believe that helping others in need is the moral duty of every human being. True happiness does not come from wealth or personal gain—it lies in being able to save a life and bring relief to others.
