A dialogue on the choice of a profession-law or medicine

Rahim: Thank goodness! Our exams are finally over.

Karim: What a relief! I hope I pass. My father just sent me a letter promising to send me to Medical College if I clear the F. Sc.

Rahim: Oh, are you aiming to become a doctor?

Karim: Yes, and I'm thrilled about it. My father is a doctor, you see, and I've always wanted to follow in his footsteps. It seems like such an intriguing profession. What about you?

Rahim: I aspire to become a lawyer. Once I get my B.A., I'll head to Law College to pursue my LL.B.

Karim: Law! It never appealed to me. Why do you want to be a lawyer?

Rahim: Well, it's a highly respectable profession. One can maintain a good standing and hold a decent position, you know.

Karim: So can a doctor. The medical field is just as honorable as law.

Rahim: Oh, absolutely. But I believe a lawyer can potentially earn more money than a doctor.

Karim: I'm not so certain about that. While a few top lawyers may amass fortunes, what about the multitude of lawyers who struggle to make ends meet? The legal field is incredibly crowded.

Rahim: Well, there's always room at the top, you know.

Karim: What I admire about the medical profession, apart from its scientific allure, is its humanitarian aspect. A doctor is always serving humanity, alleviating suffering, curing diseases, and restoring health, thereby bringing happiness to people. It's like a form of social service.

Rahim: Well, a lawyer also contributes positively. They help uncover and prevent crime, defend the innocent from false accusations, and aid those in need.

Karim: True, but a lawyer's life is rife with temptations. They're tempted to defend criminals for hefty fees and secure their release from rightful punishment. I don't see how a lawyer can avoid being deceitful.

Rahim: Now you're jesting. Just as it's possible for a doctor to be an ethical practitioner, it's equally feasible for a lawyer to maintain honesty and integrity.
