Questions and Answers
PART 1: Food and Cooking
What sorts of food do you like eating most? Why?
I really enjoy eating Italian food, especially pasta and pizza. I love the flavors and variety, and it often reminds me of family gatherings where we cook and eat together.
Who normally does the cooking in your home? Why/Why not?
My mother usually does the cooking at home because she loves to experiment with new recipes. However, I enjoy helping her on weekends and trying to cook my own dishes when I have the time.
Do you watch cookery programmes on TV? Why/Why not?
Yes, I enjoy watching cookery programs on TV. They inspire me to try new recipes and techniques. I find it fascinating to see how chefs create delicious meals, and it motivates me to improve my own cooking skills.
In general, do you prefer eating out or eating at home? Why?
I generally prefer eating at home because it feels cozier and more personal. Home-cooked meals often taste better to me, and I enjoy spending time with family during mealtimes.
PART II: Describe a House/Apartment That Someone You Know Lives In
I would like to describe my friend Sarah's apartment. She lives in a cozy two-bedroom apartment in the city center. It’s in a vibrant neighborhood with lots of cafes and shops nearby.
Inside, the apartment is beautifully decorated. The living room has a comfortable sofa, colorful cushions, and a large window that lets in plenty of natural light. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, with a dining table where they often have friends over for meals.
What I like most about Sarah's apartment is how inviting and warm it feels. The decor reflects her personality, with lots of plants and artwork. However, the only downside is that it can get a bit noisy at night due to the busy street outside.
PART III: Discussion Topics
Different Types of Home
What kinds of home are most popular in your country? Why is this?
In my country, apartments are quite popular, especially in urban areas, due to the convenience and lower maintenance costs. However, many families still prefer houses for more space and privacy.
What do you think are the advantages of living in a house rather than an apartment?
Living in a house often provides more space, a yard, and greater privacy. Families can enjoy outdoor activities and have a dedicated space for children to play. Additionally, there’s usually more room for storage.
Do you think that everyone would like to live in a larger home? Why is that?
Not necessarily. While many people appreciate having more space, others might prefer smaller homes for easier maintenance and lower costs. Personal preferences and lifestyles play a significant role in this decision.
Finding a Place to Live
How easy is it to find a place to live in your country?
Finding a place to live can be challenging in major cities due to high demand and prices. However, in smaller towns, it’s generally easier to find affordable options.
Do you think it's better to rent or to buy a place to live in? Why?
It depends on individual circumstances. Renting offers flexibility, which is great for those who move often. Buying, on the other hand, can be a good investment and provide stability for families looking to settle down.
Do you agree that there is a right age for young adults to stop living with their parents? Why is that?
I believe the right age varies for each individual. Some may feel ready to move out in their early twenties, while others might prefer to stay longer for financial reasons or to save money. Ultimately, it should be based on personal readiness and circumstances rather than a specific age.
