Questions and Answers
PART I: Your Friends
Do you prefer to have one particular friend or a group of friends? Why?
I actually enjoy having a close-knit group of friends rather than just one best friend. There's something special about having different people to share experiences with, each bringing their own perspectives and strengths to the table. It allows for a richer social life and keeps things interesting!
What do you like doing most with your friend/s?
My friends and I love exploring new places together, whether it's checking out a trendy café or going on spontaneous day trips. We also enjoy game nights and movie marathons. It’s the laughter and the shared moments that make these activities truly enjoyable.
Do you think it's important to keep in contact with friends you knew as a child? Why/Why not?
I believe it is important to maintain those childhood friendships. They form a part of who we are and often remind us of simpler times. Plus, they can provide a sense of continuity in our lives. However, it’s natural for some friendships to fade as we grow and change.
What makes a friend into a good friend?
A good friend is someone who’s supportive and trustworthy. They listen without judgment and celebrate your successes as if they were their own. Good friends are honest and open, making it easy to share thoughts and feelings. It's about mutual respect and being there for each other through thick and thin.
PART II: Describe an Important Choice You Had to Make in Your Life
An important choice I had to make was deciding whether to pursue a particular field of study in university. This decision came during my final year of high school when I had to choose between studying business or pursuing something in the arts, which I was equally passionate about.
Ultimately, I opted for business because I believed it would offer better career opportunities and job security. Looking back, I think it was a good choice for me as it’s opened doors to various roles and experiences. However, I remember feeling quite anxious at the time, weighing my options and considering the potential paths my decision could lead to. It was a mix of excitement and pressure, but I'm glad I took that leap.
PART III: Discussion Topics
Important Choices
What are the typical choices people make at different stages of their lives?
People tend to make various significant choices as they grow, such as selecting a field of study, deciding on a career, and even choosing a life partner. Each stage comes with its own set of options and challenges, shaping the direction of their lives.
Should important choices be made by parents rather than young adults? Why?
While parents can offer valuable advice, I think important choices should ultimately be made by young adults. This is crucial for personal growth and independence. Making choices teaches responsibility and helps individuals understand their own preferences and values.
Why do some people like to discuss choices with other people?
Many people discuss their choices with friends or family to gain different perspectives. Sharing decisions can help clarify thoughts and provide reassurance. It's also comforting to hear others' experiences and opinions, which can lead to more informed choices.
Choices in Everyday Life
What kind of choices do people have to make in their everyday life?
Everyday choices can range from simple ones, like what to eat for breakfast, to more complex decisions, like how to manage time effectively between work and leisure. Each choice, no matter how small, adds up and influences daily life.
Why do some people choose to do the same things every day? Are there any disadvantages to this?
Some people stick to routines because it brings a sense of stability and comfort. However, the downside is that it can lead to monotony and limit personal growth. It's essential to balance routine with new experiences to keep life exciting and fulfilling.
Do you think that people today have more choices to make than in the past?
Absolutely! With the advancement of technology and globalization, we have access to a wider range of options than ever before, whether it’s in career paths, lifestyle choices, or even entertainment. However, this can sometimes lead to decision fatigue, making it challenging to choose the best option.
