UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM IN BANGLADESH Introduction: Employment is an occupation which is productive of wealth. Unemployment is the opposite of employment. When a man is out of any kind of productive work, he is said to be in a state of unemployment. Nowhere in the world, the unemployment problem is so acute as in our country. Thousands and thousands of people are out of work in this country. Bangladesh, a country with more people than jobs, is facing this problem terribly. A great social evil/Misery of Unemployment: Unemployment is a great social evil. For the peace and prosperity of social life, it is imperative that every able-bodied person in a society should be employed. But the finding of a job is very tedious. A young man has to undergo a good deal of trouble, anxiety, mortification and humiliation to find out a job. Negligence, rebukes and insults are usually in store for him. An unemployed man has to lead a vagabond life. Life becomes a curse and burden to him. Moreover, an unemployed person has an idle brain which very soon becomes the devil’s workshop. An analysis of social evils shows that many of them have unemployment at their roots. Problem of Bangladesh: Bangladesh is not a rich country but we claim to be a developing country. In this situation, she has a large number of population in her small area. Regarding this, the birth rate of this country is dangerous. It is increasing day by day. It is beyond its capacity to give work to all of her people. At present the population is near about 14 crore. About more than one thousand people live per square kilometre . In fact, the country is feeding her people with the help of others. As we are in a poor country, after providing food, we can’t make scopes of job for the unemployed. With many kinds of problem, this problem has become a dangerous problem to the country and her people. Causes of unemployment: The reasons of unemployment in our country are not far to seek. In the first place, our country is industrially very backward. There are few mills, factories and firms in our country. Cottage industries are not in a flourishing condition. The mills and factories that we have, can give employment to a limited number of people. Similar is the case with agriculture. As the supply of land is limited it cannot employ a large number of people. Secondly, our system of education and the attitude of our average students and youths are also responsible for this. Our system of education fails to give a student and independent start in life. It has little provision for vocational training. Our students and youths have a false sense of dignity and prestige in being officers. They think that service is more honourable than an independent business. So they run madly after jobs the opportunity of which is necessarily very limited. Thirdly, inequitable distribution of national wealth and abnormal growth rate of population jointly or separately work to intensify the problem in our country. Solution: Unemployment problem is a very difficult problem which defies almost all solution. Many ways have so long been devised to root it out but complete success has not yet been attained. However, the first thing necessary for the solution of this problem is the industrialisation of our country. These industries will then be able to give employment to a large number of people. Secondly, vocational education should be introduced and students should have some training in it. After the academic career this will help them in earning a living. Thirdly, our students and youth should be made to change their attitude to life. They must give up their false sense of dignity in becoming officers and shake off their mania for jobs. They should learn to choose and independent career having due respect for manual labour. Last of all, steps should be made to increase our national income to the maximum and distribute it equitably. But all attempts will be fruitless if the population is not kept within reasonable limit. Conclusion: Bangladesh is a least developed country with her over population. The problem of unemployment is getting more and more acute in Bangladesh day by day. Whatever may be its causes, timely and proper steps should be taken to eradicate its menace. With the help of modern technology, Bangladesh can face this problem. But the consciousness of people from all spheres of life is a must to change the lot of our nation. Then we will be able to serve our country from the ultimate ruin. Unemployment Problem of Bangladesh Unemployment means not finding a job. The unemployment problem is acute in Bangladesh because of the lack of job opportunity. When all the development efforts stop, the unemployment problem keeps soaring up. As to the size, Bangladesh is the smallest country in Asia but stands first being the most populous country. For about three decades, political education, illiteracy, agro-based economy, industrial backwardness, closure or lay-off of industries, economic stagnancy in investment sectors and, above all, a large-scale corruption is responsible for the unemployment problem. After the liberation, no special care was given to the industrial sector. As a result, the employment opportunities are not created. Due to political unrest foreign investors feel repulsion to invest in Bangladesh. NGO programmes are insignificant. As a result, the unemployment problem is mounting up day by day. Unemployment is a great social evil. It has a far-reaching effect on the economic, social and political affairs of the country. Unemployed people consume natural wealth but do not contribute to the economy of the country. A large number of unemployed youths involve themselves in various anti-social activities and crimes. Drug addiction, terrorism, trafficking etc. are breeding anarchy and disorder in society. Unemployment is the root of all evils. To solve the unemployment problem, the government must take adequate and proper steps. This task is hard but not impossible. Of various remedies, the most potent is the industrialization of our country. A sound and helpful democratic atmosphere is to be ensured. Vocational education can come to aid in this regard. So we should pay attention to vocational and technical education. Instead of looking for clerical jobs in offices, they should engage themselves in small business, dairy and poultry farming. The government should supply interest-free loans for this purpose. The unemployment problem in Bangladesh is getting more and more acute day by day. It is high time we took proper steps to eradicate it. If we fail to solve this problem, our independence will be meaningless. Unemployment Problems and Possible Solutions Unemployment means a person willing to work but unable to find a qualified job. Our country is facing many problems but one of the serious problem is of unemployment. Many graduates, doctors, engineers, scientist are unemployed or working underemployed. Due to unemployment we are wasting our country’s human resource. The unemployed rate in between age group 15- 29 has been increased since 2009-2010. According to the Global Employment Trends 2014 the unemployment rate has raised to 3.8%, last year it was 3.7%. The ILO has said in the recent report that India has shown rise in the unemployment in the last two years. If the problem of unemployment is solved it will help in development of the country. With Population of 1.20 billion in our country the unemployment rate is increasing day by day. The problem of unemployment is rising but still many industries are facing the problem of skilled candidate for their company. There is a boom of software companies, Outsourcing companies in India, but still facing the problem of unemployment. Here are some of the reasons why there is unemployment. 1. There are employment opportunities but the rising population problem creates the unemployment. If there is vacancy for 1 position 100 or 1000 apply for the position and only one gets the job and others remain unemployed. 2. Inflation 3. Bengali people don’t take jobs which are below their grades. 4. Low wages or salary below the market rate. 5. Many big industries look for the skilled candidate only, for their company. 6. Recession 7. Many Employers give preference to the experienced candidates only and not the fresher. 8. Not enough or new jobs 9. Advanced Technology: With the advanced technology companies are hiring few persons to operate the machine. Give a command on computer and the work is done this has cut off the employment of many. 10. Corruption: Even though the candidate is not that qualified but if he gives the bribe he gets the job. So to get a government job give a bribe. The qualified candidate remains unemployed as no money to give the bribe. Problems caused due to unemployment 1. Unemployment and poverty goes side by side. The problem of unemployment gives rise to the problem of poverty. 2. Young people after a long time of unemployment find the wrong way to earn money. 3. To get rid from the unemployment stress, they accept alcohol or drugs. 4. Unemployed youths accepts suicide as the last option of their life 5. Lower economic growth 6. Increase rate in Crimes. As the employed youth don’t have anything to do they start doing robbery, murder etc. 7. Health issues i.e it affects mentally as well as physically Solutions to the unemployment in Bangladesh 1. The very first solution for the unemployment is to control the rising population of our country. Government should motivate people

to have small families. Indian government has started initiatives to control the population but still the population is rising. 2. The quality of our education should be improved. Government should keep a strict watch on the education system and try to implement new ways to generate skilled labour force. Before completing the education a practical knowledge should be given. 3. Also today’s youth should join the institute or select the course where proper training is given and the course is as per the current industries requirements. Take the course as per your interest and which will bright your future. 4. Government should encourage and develop the agriculture based industries in rural areas so that the rural candidates don’t migrate to the urban areas. More employment should be generated in rural areas for the seasonal unemployment people. 5. Rapid Industrialization should be created. 6. Development of the rural areas will stop the migration of the rural people to the urban cities and this will not put more pressure on the urban city jobs. 7. Government should allow more foreign companies to open their unit in India, so that more employment opportunities will be available 8. Encouraging self employment 9. Pay attention to vocational and technical education 10. Supply interest-free loans for this purpose. The unemployment problem in Bangladesh is getting more and more acute day by day. It is high time we took proper steps to eradicate it. If we fail to solve this problem, our independence will be meaningless. Usefulness of Games and Sports

Sports and games have a great value in our life. They help us to achieve a sound view of life both physically and mentally. They create international brotherhood and reduce enmity among nations. By being skilled and superior in these games we can bring glory and honour for the nation as well as the country.

Sports are divided into two major types – namely indoor sports and out door sports. In-door games are played inside a building and out door games are played in the open space. Both types of games and sports are beneficial to us.

Games and sports are the best kind of exercise. They help in the circulation of blood and harden muscles and make the body fit and strong. Again sound mind can reside only in a sound body. A man who is sick loses his cheerfulness and becomes irritating, fastidious, timid and morose.

Sports give us immense pleasure. We work all day long. But we seldom can make time to play. Consequently, our energy becomes exhausted. In order to regain this energy, we need to take part in sports. This participation will remove our anxieties and will become a source of pleasure.

Games and sports teach self-control, discipline and the habit of concentration. These games help us to form our character too. They help us in developing our personality. We learn the value of co-operation and unity. We can make a good relationship through sports and games with neighbouring countries. A country earns fame if she shows good performance at a sports competition. Thus we see that the dignity of a nation also depends greatly on sports.

However, more effective steps should be taken to develop the condition of our country in games and sports. So, we should take part in games and sports regularly. It should be made as a profession in our country.
