Drug addiction is a silent destroyer. It doesn’t just harm the person using drugs but also tears apart families and disrupts society. Many people start using drugs out of curiosity, peer pressure, or as an escape from stress. But what seems like a momentary relief often turns into a lifelong nightmare.

The effects of addiction are disastrous. Physically, it weakens the body, damages organs, and can even lead to life-threatening diseases. Mentally, it clouds judgment, destroys willpower, and leaves people incapable of achieving their goals or living fulfilling lives.

Sometimes, they wander about with illegal arms and ammunition and threaten the people moving on the road to snatch away money from them.

Dear Sir,

I am a concerned teacher and lifelong resident of the village of Mirbag under Kaunia upazila in Rangpur. I write to express my deep worry about the alarming rise in drug addiction among the youth in our locality.

Over the past several months, our village has changed drastically. The number of young people involved in drug abuse is increasing every day. Many of them gather in public places like the market corners, near schools, and even inside the mosque grounds after dark. They take drugs openly and behave violently with anyone who tries to stop them.

As a result, our peaceful village is no longer safe. Parents are scared to let their children go out. Local shopkeepers have complained of frequent thefts, and many villagers have been robbed at night. The situation has gone out of control, and local elders and community leaders feel helpless.

We believe that if immediate action is not taken, this problem will destroy the future of many young lives and create more crime in the area. We request your kind intervention in this serious matter. Please arrange for regular police patrols, set up awareness campaigns in schools and mosques, and ensure that drug dealers are arrested and punished.
