POLYBAGS ARE STILL BEING PRODUCED
The government, on consideration of their tremendous negative effects on environment, has banned production and distribution of polybags. Before the government.ban went into effect, many awareness programmes had been taken and the people, especially the producers of polybags had been repeatedly informed of the grvernment's decision through different media. Much was propagated through radio and television and newspaper reporting. But to the utter violation of the law of banning the production and distribution of polybags, some unscrupulous traders are still manufacturing the same threatening products. Polybags of different size, colour and thickness are being frequently noticed in the streets of Dhaka as well as elsewhere in the country. We, therefore, fervently appeal to the Ministry of Environment to come forward and ensure that the laws prohibiting the manufacture and sales of polybags are really abided by. This is most important to save our posterity from the clutches of environmental pollution.
