How to Publish a College Magazine
Publishing a college magazine involves several steps to ensure a smooth and successful process. Firstly, a magazine committee comprising nine members, including a chief patron who is typically the principal, is formed during a general meeting. A senior teacher is appointed as the adviser, while students are selected as the editor, two business editors, and assistant proofreaders. Secondly, funding for the magazine is generated through the collection of a magazine fee from the college community. The editor invites submissions in both Bangla and English, which are then reviewed for quality and suitability for publication. The business editors solicit advertisements to generate additional revenue for the magazine. Typically, the magazine is divided into two sections - one in Bangla and the other in English. It includes messages from the principal and college secretary, along with features such as profiles of former outstanding students, HSC results, annual reports, essays, short stories, and plays. Contributions from students, including jokes, quizzes, and puzzles, as well as some contributions from teachers, are also included. Finally, the principal conducts a final edit before the magazine is sent to the press for printing and publication. This collaborative effort ensures the creation of a comprehensive and engaging college magazine.
