1. Who gave you your name?

My parents were the masterminds behind my name, especially my father. He chose it with a lot of thought—Progga, meaning knowledge, and Lei, meaning accumulation. So, in essence, they were nudging me towards the idea that wisdom is built up over time. Honestly, it’s a lot to live up to, but I wouldn’t trade my name for the world. It’s one of a kind, and I feel it’s deeply intertwined with who I am.

2. How did your parents choose your name?

To be frank, I’ve never really dug into the how and why of my name. I imagine it was a name that resonated with them both, and they felt it would suit me well.

3. Do you like your name?

I absolutely love my name and wouldn’t dream of changing it. It’s unique, and I don’t think there’s anyone else in China who shares it. It’s a big part of my identity and carries a lot of personal meaning.

4. Does your name have any special meaning?

It probably does, but I haven’t looked into it. I might just do a bit of digging later—now that you’ve piqued my curiosity!

Actually, it’s quite a common name. Back in school, there were two other classmates with the same name as mine, so I guess it’s not all that unique.

6. If you could change your name, would you?

Absolutely not. My name is a part of who I am, and it would feel strange to change it out of the blue. Besides, I’m pretty sure my friends and family would find it odd too.

In my country, names carry a lot of weight. People believe that the right name can bring good fortune, and sometimes, they even change their names for business or family reasons.

Yes, in China, it’s often the father’s role to name the children. They might scour through Chinese classical literature to find meaningful words for their child’s name.

In India, it’s also common for fathers to name their children. They might consult Indian classical literature to find words with deep meanings for their child’s name.

Yes, my parents were the ones who chose my name. My mother once told me that my father bought a baby name book even before I was born, so all the credit goes to them for picking out my name.

I’ve learned that they were inspired by a name they found in the book, and they took the surname from my grandfather. This was the final touch after hours of deliberation over countless other names.

My name is quite special to me, as it is to my parents. The first part, Clyde, is actually the name of a Scottish river, close to where I was born. I think they hoped I’d grow to be as significant as a river. The second part, Entriken, is a family name from a renowned ancient dynasty in Great Britain.

13. Is your name common or unusual in your country?

Statistically speaking, it’s not all that common. That said, I’ve crossed paths with at least 10 others who share the same first name, albeit with different surnames.

14. If you could change your name, would you?

My name is incredibly special to me, and I wouldn’t dream of changing it. A name is unique and holds a lot of significance. While I might consider an alias if I ever need to ghost-write, I’d never change my real name for the sake of trends or style.
