A school policy I would like to discuss is the ban on using mobile phones during school hours. Honestly, I couldn’t stand this rule at first since I feel that as a college student, we should be allowed to do whatever we want. Furthermore, I had a humiliating experience in my first year since I was using my phone and my teacher spotted me and reprimanded me. I despised that teacher at the time, and, although I thought I was right, as a student, I felt powerless.

From then on, I obeyed the rule half-heartedly, but with time I realised that my teacher was spot on. Using a phone in class distracts me from the lesson and, consequently, I don’t understand the topic. Besides, it is also disrespectful to my teacher. Luckily, I learned my lesson and, as a result, I now observe the rule.

As a direct result of this, my grades have gone up. I am incredibly grateful to this teacher because I now understand that gadgets tend to distract us, not only in class but also when we are reading books or going through our notes. When we refrain from using our phones, we can focus on getting higher grades.

I totally understand now that school does not just impose rules that are pointless; they are actually in the learners’ interests. Finally, if I could give a piece of advice to teenagers who are addicted to phones, I would say phones serve a purpose, but they are supposed to be used properly so if there is a rule prohibiting their use, then obey it!

A school policy I would like to discuss is the ban on using mobile phones during school hours. Initially, I found this rule quite frustrating, as I believed that, being a college student, I should have the freedom to use my phone whenever I wanted. I even had a humiliating experience during my first year when I was caught using my phone in class and reprimanded by a teacher. At the time, I felt powerless and disliked the teacher for enforcing the rule.

Over time, however, I came to realize that the rule was actually beneficial. Using a phone in class often distracts me from the lesson, making it difficult to understand the topic being taught. Additionally, it is disrespectful to the teacher and disruptive to other students. Once I accepted this and adhered to the rule, I noticed a significant improvement in my academic performance.

Since I started observing the rule more diligently, my grades have improved. I am now grateful to that teacher for enforcing the policy, as it helped me understand that gadgets can be a major distraction, not only in class but also when studying on my own. By refraining from using my phone during school hours, I have been able to concentrate better and achieve higher grades.

I now see that school rules are not merely arbitrary; they are designed to benefit students and enhance their learning experience. For students who might be addicted to their phones, my advice would be to understand the purpose of such rules and follow them, as they are intended to help us focus and succeed academically.
