When I was in high school, I encountered a variety of subjects, but history was one that I struggled to appreciate. At the time, I found the subject to be rather uninspiring, primarily due to the teaching methods employed by my history teacher. To be perfectly honest, he was not particularly engaging. His approach was to simply transcribe facts and dates from the textbook onto the board, expecting us to copy them down verbatim. There was no interactive discussion or contextual understanding, which made the lessons feel monotonous and disengaging. I found it incredibly frustrating, as it seemed that the only expectation was for us to memorize endless amounts of information without any real understanding.

Fast forward to my early twenties, and I stumbled upon a film that completely changed my perspective on history. The movie depicted the era of Genghis Khan and his conquests in northern China over a thousand years ago. The film brought historical events to life with its dramatic storytelling and vivid visuals, sparking my curiosity. I realized that history could be incredibly captivating when presented in an engaging way. This newfound interest led me to explore more historical films and read articles on various historical topics.

Now, I have a genuine passion for history. I appreciate how historical events and figures have shaped the world we live in today. The subject has become far more interesting to me, thanks to the more dynamic and engaging resources I’ve encountered. I believe that if schools could adopt more interactive and inspiring methods of teaching history, it would foster a deeper interest and appreciation among students.
