However, last year it was my parents’ 25 wedding anniversary and I decided that I was going to throw a surprise party for them. I told them that I had booked for them to go out for tea at their favourite
restaurant because I needed to get them out of the house.
Whilst they were out, I had two hours to get everything ready to surprise them when they got back. Luckily, my aunt and cousins offered to help me so as soon as my parents had left the house, they turned up with food, drinks and decorations. Amazingly, we managed to transform the house in a short space of time. It is true that many hands make light work. I had told the guests to arrive at 6.30pm because my parents were due to get back at 7pm.
Thankfully, everyone turned up in time and we all waited for my parents’ car to arrive back. It was hard keeping quiet because there were over 100 people in the house. When I sent out the invitations, I didn’t think everyone would say yes so I was flabbergasted at the number of guests who arrived.
All the lights were turned off and when the door opened, we jumped up and shouted ‘surprise’. They were incredibly startled and stunned to see their house full of familiar faces. I must admit that I was slightly anxious that my mum might be annoyed because she is a shy and timid person, but she was delighted that I had put in so much effort to mark their special anniversary.
After everyone left, I was shattered and there was a lot to clean up, but I felt thrilled that I had made the effort to do something for this special occasion and it was certainly a night that we will all never forget.

Last year, I had a memorable experience when I organized a surprise party for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. It was a special occasion, and I wanted to make it truly unforgettable for them. Since my family is not very sociable, we don’t usually have many visitors at our home, making this event even more significant.
The plan was to get my parents out of the house so that I could prepare for the party. I told them I had made reservations for them at their favorite restaurant, which was a great way to keep them occupied while I set everything up. I had two hours to get everything ready, and luckily, my aunt and cousins were incredibly supportive and helped me out. They arrived with food, drinks, and decorations, and together we managed to transform the house into a festive setting in no time. It was impressive how much we accomplished in such a short period—truly, many hands make light work.
I had invited over 100 people and asked them to arrive by 6:30 pm, as my parents were expected back at 7:00 pm. It was quite a challenge to keep everything quiet with such a large crowd. To my surprise, everyone I invited showed up, which was more than I had anticipated.
When my parents returned and opened the door, we all shouted ‘surprise’. They were completely taken aback and overwhelmed by the sight of their home filled with friends and family. I had been a bit anxious about how my mum would react, as she is quite shy and reserved. However, her happiness was evident, and she was truly touched by the effort I put into celebrating their special day.
After the party, I was exhausted and there was a considerable amount of cleanup to do, but I felt immensely satisfied and thrilled. It was rewarding to see how much joy the surprise brought to my parents, and it was an event that we will all cherish and remember fondly.
