I have decided to talk about an activity that my best friend did recently and that was skiing. I have never been skiing before; however, it is something that I have been dying to do for ages. I have to admit that I was a teeny bit jealous when she told me that she was going on my dream holiday.

She had never been skiing before and had been saving up for about five

years to go to a ski resort in the Alps in France with her boyfriend. Such a holiday is relatively expensive because there is so much kit that you need such as a ski jacket, goggles etc and then all the equipment that needs to be hired when you get there. On top of all that, there are ski passes as well as accommodation and flights. In addition, spending money for the après-ski is essential. What I mean by après-ski is the social activities and entertainment following a day's skiing.

So finally, after about five years of scrimping and saving, they had both saved up enough money to go and they went earlier this year. They flew to France and then hired a car to drive to the ski resort. As soon as she got there, she sent me a few photos on what’s app and it looked absolutely breathtaking. The scenery was stunningly beautiful and although it was freezing cold, the sun was shining and as soon as I saw it, I wished I was there.

Every day my friend posted updates on social media and she had such a marvelous time. As I said, she had never skied before so went to ski school on the nursery slopes, but by the end of the week she had progressed to the steeper slopes. For people like us, who come from hot, humid countries, being in a place covered in snow is an eye-opening experience.

I want to talk about a fascinating experience that my best friend recently had: skiing in the Alps. I’ve never been skiing myself, though it’s something I’ve always wanted to try. I have to admit, I felt a bit envious when she shared her plans for this adventure.

My friend had never skied before and had been saving up for around five years to afford a ski holiday in the French Alps with her boyfriend. Skiing is quite an expensive activity due to the cost of necessary equipment like ski jackets, goggles, and rented gear. On top of that, there are ski passes, accommodation, flights, and spending money for après-ski activities, which are the social and entertainment events following a day on the slopes.

After years of diligent saving, they managed to go on their skiing trip earlier this year. They flew to France and then drove to their chosen ski resort. As soon as she arrived, she sent me some photos via WhatsApp, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The scenery was stunning, with beautiful snow-covered landscapes and clear, sunny skies, despite the freezing temperatures. Seeing those photos made me wish I was there with her.

Throughout the week, my friend kept me updated on social media. She had a fantastic time, starting from ski school on the nursery slopes and gradually advancing to more challenging runs by the end of the week. For someone like me, coming from a hot and humid climate, experiencing snow and winter sports is incredibly intriguing. My friend's trip was not only a remarkable personal achievement but also a vivid glimpse into a world that is so different from what I'm used to.
