I’m really pleased you’ve given me this topic because I’m a massive music fan, but there is one group who is head and shoulders above the rest, in my opinion, and that is BTS. They are a Korean group who have been around for around six years now, but I only got into them last year.

I first heard about them when they won an award at the Billboard Music Awards and I decided to take a look at their latest video. I was instantly mesmorised because not only can they sing, but they are incredible dancers. After watching the video, I was keen to find out more about them and I binge watched hours of videos and discovered they are seven of the funniest, wittiest and most charming human beings on the planet. Trying to put them into a musical genre is tricky because although they are classed as K-Pop, their music consists of rap, R&B, hip hop, pop rock and EDM (electronic dance music). Unlike many so-called boy bands, they write and produce a lot of their music so they are not a typical manufactured boy band.

There are seven members – RM is the main rapper and the leader. There are three rappers in total and four vocalists. All seven of them dance; mind you, some are better than others, namely J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook. Suga is also one of the main producers along with RM and J-Hope. And then there’s V, who as well as being the most handsome man on the planet, has the most amazing soulful voice.

Why are they my favourite band? Well, where do I start? Musically, they are producing some of the best songs in the world at the moment. Their lyrics tackle issues such as mental health, the education system, the pressures of fame, materialism... among many other things. They are not a typical boy band singing pretty love songs – they are not afraid to use their voice to talk about controversial topics.

Despite singing almost entirely in Korean, their music is emotional and although I cannot understand every word, it doesn’t matter. I understand the sentiment of the song and that is much more important than understanding every lyric.

I’m excited to talk about my favorite music group, BTS. They are a Korean band that has captured my attention like no other. Although BTS has been around for about six years, I only discovered them last year, and they have since become my top choice in music.

My initial introduction to BTS came when they won an award at the Billboard Music Awards. Curious about their music, I watched their latest video and was instantly captivated. Not only do they have exceptional singing abilities, but their dance performances are also incredibly impressive. After that first video, I found myself binge-watching countless clips, and I quickly realized that BTS members are among the funniest, wittiest, and most charismatic people I’ve ever seen.

Categorizing BTS’s music into a single genre is challenging. Although they are classified as K-Pop, their music spans various styles, including rap, R&B, hip-hop, pop rock, and EDM (electronic dance music). Unlike many other boy bands, BTS writes and produces a significant portion of their own music, which sets them apart from the typical manufactured groups.

BTS consists of seven members: RM, the leader and main rapper; Suga, who is also a key producer; J-Hope, known for his incredible dance skills and production work; Jimin and Jungkook, both remarkable dancers; and V, who is not only incredibly handsome but also possesses a soulful voice. Each member brings something unique to the group, making them stand out.

So why is BTS my favorite band? Their music is among the best in the world right now, tackling important and sometimes controversial topics like mental health, the education system, fame, and materialism. They don’t just sing about typical love stories; they use their platform to address deeper issues. Despite singing mostly in Korean, their music conveys strong emotions, and even though I might not understand every word, I feel the sentiment behind the songs. That emotional connection is what makes BTS special to me.
