Yes, piracy is a significant issue in Vietnam, particularly in the publishing sector. Unauthorized copies of books and films being distributed before their official release result in substantial financial losses for publishers and harm national revenue. Additionally, it's a violation of intellectual property laws. Despite efforts by the Vietnamese government, including education, stricter penalties, and preventive measures, the problem persists due to the potential for high profits from piracy. Some consumers are attracted to the lower prices of pirated copies, which complicates the issue. I believe the government should also target those who seek out these counterfeit goods, and DVD or VCD player manufacturers could design products that are incompatible with pirated copies.
