The proverb "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" emphasizes the value and importance of games and sports in our lives. In today's world, sports and games have become an integral part of education. There are two categories of sports and games: outdoor games and indoor games. Both types of games offer excellent forms of exercise, helping to strengthen our bodies and maintain good health. Additionally, they keep our minds lively and cheerful, alleviating the monotony of hard work and studies.Engaging in sports and games also instills qualities such as discipline and punctuality. These activities require participants to be sincere, dutiful, cooperative, disciplined, hardworking, punctual, regular, and united. Moreover, they contribute to broadening our perspectives and fostering rational attitudes, while also helping to dispel social superstitions.International sporting events provide a platform for individuals from diverse backgrounds and nations to come together, share their thoughts, views, and ideas, and build brotherhood, mutual understanding, and cooperation. These events serve as significant sources of entertainment and recreation, helping to relieve anxiety and tension. Furthermore, participation in sports helps individuals steer clear of antisocial behavior.Personally, I have a deep fondness for playing football, a sport beloved by people from all walks of life worldwide. I firmly believe that students who are passionate about sports tend to perform better in their exams. Therefore, it is crucial for every student to actively participate in sports and games on a regular basis.

Games and sports are very important for many reasons. First, they help keep our bodies healthy. When we play sports, we move our bodies in different ways, which makes our muscles stronger and our hearts healthier. This helps us stay fit and reduces the chances of getting sick. Second, playing games and sports is good for our minds. It helps us think better and make decisions quickly. When we play sports, we have to think about what to do next and how to win. This makes our brains work better and helps us concentrate on other things, like schoolwork. Third, games and sports help us make friends and work together with others. When we play on a team, we have to cooperate with our teammates to win. This teaches us how to get along with others and how to communicate well. It also helps us learn about different cultures and countries, as we often play against people from other places.

Finally, playing games and sports makes us feel good emotionally. When we play, our bodies release chemicals called endorphins, which make us feel happy and less stressed. This helps us relax and feel better about ourselves. Also, when we play sports, we learn important life skills like being disciplined, never giving up, and being fair to others. Introduction : Various kinds of popular games are played in 'Bangladesh like football. cricket, volleyball, handball, basket ball and hockey. Of all the games I like football most. Football is a foreign game. It was first played in ,England. At present it is very popular all over the world. It is not expensive as cricket. It is an outdoor game. I feel the spectators get much more pleasure than any other game.

Causes of liking : Football is my favourite game since it has some special advantages.It gives, us much pleasure. It is an exciting game. It makes the spectators pleasant. It doesn't take a long time.

Required things and setting : It is an outdoor game it requires a big field. It is generally120 yards long and 80 yards wide. There are two goal-posts at each end. It is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players. Of them one is goal keeper. two full backs, three half backs and five forwards. There is a referee who conducts the match.

How the game played : At the beginning, the ball is placed at die centre of the field. The referee whistles and the game starts. Then each team tries to pass the ball through die opposite goal-post. But the players cannot touch the ball with hands. Only the two goal keepers can touch and catch ball. 7bere is an interval of 10 minutes. The sides are changed after the interval. The team scoring more goals win,-, the garret.

Teaching/Learning : It teaches us obedience to rules. It also teaches us discipline. co-operation and leadership. It improves the health of a player and makes him prompt, careful, strong, active and wealthy. Both the players and the spectators can learn the importance of rules and discipline in our life. They can learn how to struggle to be successful in life. Therefore, they are able to lead a disciplined life. It can be clearly said that football also can play a vital role in making our life disciplined and successful.

Conclusion : Finally it can be stated that though. the game of football has some risks of being injured, it is liked by all. It is as popular as any other Barrie in the world. We like it very much. The game has both educative and cultural value. It gives us much pleasure and joy. A good player can earn a lot of money by playing football.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GAMES AND SPORTS


Games and sports are the source of enjoyment, amusement and pleasure. Men are rational beings and they need to develop their faculties to expose themselves in various fields. So they require soundness of body and mind for which games and sports are necessary. Games and sports are not only the sources of pleasure and amusement but also the means of keeping physically fit and establishing a relation between two rival groups by eradicating the conflicts and strifes.

There are various kinds of sports like swimming, boating, running, jumping and games like football, cricket, hockey, tennis, badminton, volleyball, basket ball etc.

Sports have a great significance in our individual as well as our collective life. It builds our body and gives us more energy in work. It gives us skill, discipline, sense of co-operation and team¬spirit. Some games call forth courage and

presence of mind. Sports and games are joyful activities too. A true sportsman is frank, generous and free from petty spite. These are sportsmanlike qualities.

There is no doubt that many outdoor games, such as football, hockey and cricket are very good for growing boys. They provide physical exercise, so necessary for health, in an interesting form. Moreover, such games, by training boys to work together in a team, teach corporate discipline and so promote what is called esprit de corps. Games form a valuable part of school education. They help in the moral training of boys. They teach certain necessary moral lessons, and in a way boys can understand, that the playing of games promotes co-operation, sense of fair-play, sporting spirit, obedience to rules, self-control, pluck and sacrifice of self for the good of the

whole.

The proverb says, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." The sports can refresh and supply fresh vigour to our body and mind. A Latin proverb, "Mens sang in corporesano," that is, a sound mind exists in a sound body.


 

The Game I Like Most


Football is the most popular game of the world. People all over the world are mad for it. A huge amount of money is spent every year for this game. The standard of football in Europe and South America is very high.

Football is played on an open grassy field. The field is 110 to 120 yards long and 70 to 80 yards wide. There are two goal posts at each end to the field. A crossbar is attached to the goal posts. The crossbar is eight feet high from the ground.

 

The game is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players of which one is a goal-keeper. One referee and two linesmen conduct the game. Duration of the game is 90 minutes divided into two halves with a recess of 10/15 minutes. After the first half each team changes its side. The referee places the ball at the centre of the field. With the whistle of the referee a player of one team kicks the ball and the game starts. Football makes a man strong and healthy as it requires hard labour and quick movement. Football uses all the skills and energy of the body and mind. It teaches the players to be obedient, punctual, and hard-working in a team spirit. Football tournaments create friendship among the nations of the world. For these reasons football is my favorite game.


I love football and it makes me happy. Football is played in all the countries of the world. So when the world cup tournament is held it creates sensation all over the world. Through satellite communication the matches of the tournament are telecast live and most people of the world enjoy them. Football brings the nations of the world closer and makes them friendly with one another.
