My dear Mother,

Your letter is just in hand. Today I am going to write to you how I enjoyed / celebrated / observed the Pahela Baishakh this year. This year we have celebrated Pahela Baishakh with great enthusiasm. A day-long programme was there which included cultural function and other items. Well, here it is.

The function was arranged by our school authority. Some girls wearing white sari with red corner inaugurated the programme by singing a very melodious song. After that our honourable teacher, Mr. Hasan very beautifully narrated the primitive history of Bangla year. Then started the reciting competition composed by the young poets and based on ‘Pahela Baishakh’. Mr. Nasiruddin, the Headmaster of our school discussed on the importance of ‘Pahela Baishakh’ in the national life of Bangladesh. The second part of the programme was arranged by different songs composed by the established poets and lyricists. The full audience made the pin-drop silence as some famous new and old singers performed with superb melody. The third phase of the programme started with the declaration of our deep and inborn relationship with ‘Pahela Baishakh’. At the end some tasty food were distributed among all the guests. The deep impression the function left on me will continue living in my memory for many days.

This is all for today. Hope you and father are well. I am also well. Regards to you and father.

Yours ever,

Becky

My dear Arif,

This is, in short, how we have observed the Pahela Baishakh up to a desired standard.

With love and best wishes.

My dear Arif,

I hope you are doing well. I wanted to share with you how I celebrated Pahela Baishakh this year—it was such a vibrant and joyful day!

The celebrations started early in the morning. I joined my family to attend the traditional Mangal Shobhajatra, a colorful procession that symbolizes unity and hope. People were dressed in bright red and white attire, and the air was filled with the sound of drums, flutes, and folk songs. The decorations, including masks and paper crafts, were absolutely stunning.

After the procession, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of panta bhat (soaked rice), fried hilsa fish, and various bhartas (mashed vegetables). It felt great to connect with our roots through this traditional meal. Later, we visited a local fair, where I explored stalls showcasing handicrafts, toys, and traditional sweets. The cultural performances, including music, dance, and poetry recitals, were the highlight of the day.

In the evening, we returned home and spent time with friends and neighbors. We exchanged good wishes for the new year and shared more delicious food. The entire day was filled with joy, laughter, and a strong sense of togetherness.

Celebrating Pahela Baishakh reminded me how important it is to cherish our traditions and heritage. How did you spend the day? I’d love to hear about your experiences.

Take care, and write back soon!

Yours ever,

Tahseen

Letter to your friend how you have celebrated Pahela Boishakh

Dear Rupa,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. It was great to receive your letter and I am pleased to share with you how I celebrated Pahela Boishakh this year.

As you know, Pahela Boishakh is a major festival in our country and I always look forward to it. This year, I started the day early by attending the celebrations at Ramna Batomul at dawn. The atmosphere was electric and I felt an instant surge of excitement as I joined the crowd in welcoming the new year.

Later, I attended a cultural function organized by the renowned cultural organization, Chhayanat. The artists there performed different types of traditional songs and presented various dance forms which truly captured the essence of our culture.

Following this, I participated in a rally organized by the Institute of Fine Arts at Dhaka University. Like all the other participants, I wore a tiger mask and it was quite fun. We also had some traditional snacks and drinks during the rally.

In the afternoon, I returned home and had some ‘Panta Ilish’ with green chilies. It was a delicious meal and I relished it after the busy morning. Our school also organized a small Baishakhi Mela and it was a delight to see the students actively participating in setting up different stalls. I helped my school friends with three of the stalls, where we sold toys, dolls, and other handmade items. I even purchased an ‘Ek Tara’ for myself.

Overall, it was an amazing day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I look forward to next year’s celebrations with great anticipation.

Take care and write back soon.

Yours lovingly,

Suma
