The Editor,

The Bangladesh Observer,

Dhaka.

Sir,

May I take the opportunity of expressing my grievance to the concerned authorities through your esteemed daily.

Reckless Driving In The Streets

Street accidents have become a matter of daily occurrence now-a-days in Bangladesh. It has become distressingly common to open the newspaper each morning only to be greeted by reports of tragic accidents on our roads. These incidents are primarily caused by reckless driving, resulting in countless deaths and injuries each year.

It has reached a point where one cannot confidently anticipate a safe journey to their destination. The streets seem to belong solely to vehicle drivers, who often behave without regard for safety regulations. Some drivers even operate their vehicles under the influence of alcohol, further exacerbating the dangers on the road. Sadly, law enforcement appears lax, with little attention paid to vehicle fitness checks or the enforcement of traffic regulations.

The people of our city are calling for safer roads. We cannot bear the thought of losing loved ones to preventable accidents. Therefore, I implore the relevant authorities to strictly enforce traffic laws and impose severe penalties on reckless drivers. Additionally, I urge for increased vigilance and activity among traffic police officers on duty.

Thank you for considering this matter, and I trust that your publication will help shed light on the urgency of addressing this issue.

Sincerely,

S. Hossain

Reckless Driving of Motor Cars in the Streets

I am writing to express my deep concern about the reckless driving of motor cars in the streets of Dhaka, which has become a significant threat to the safety of pedestrians and other road users. It is increasingly common to witness drivers speeding, jumping red lights, and ignoring traffic signals and rules, putting everyone at risk.

The consequences of this reckless behavior are grave. Accidents are frequent, often resulting in injuries and fatalities. The growing number of motor vehicles combined with the disregard for traffic laws has led to a dangerous environment on the roads. Pedestrians, cyclists, and even other vehicle drivers are frequently at risk of accidents due to the aggressive driving of a few individuals.

This problem is exacerbated by the lack of proper enforcement of traffic laws. Many drivers are not held accountable for their actions, and traffic police are often absent from critical points, especially during rush hours. This has created a sense of impunity among reckless drivers, who know they are unlikely to face consequences for their actions.

To address this issue, I urge the authorities to increase the presence of traffic police on the streets, particularly in busy areas. Strict enforcement of traffic rules, including heavy fines for traffic violations, would help discourage reckless driving. Additionally, public awareness campaigns on safe driving and pedestrian safety could play an important role in reducing accidents.

The safety of citizens must be a priority, and it is essential that immediate action is taken to ensure safer roads for all.
