Ans.     Slow & Steady Wins The Race

Long ago there lived a hare in a forest. A tortoise also lived nearby. The hare was proud of his speed. He always teased the tortoise. One day, as the hare was heading home, he encountered the tortoise also making his way back. The tortoise was moving peacefully, not bothering the hare at all. Suddenly, the hare stopped him and mocked, "You slowpoke! I feel sorry for how slow you are."

Hearing this, the tortoise responded calmly, "Even though you're as fast as the wind, I can still beat you in a race." The hare, thinking this was impossible, agreed to the challenge. They decided that the fox would choose the course and set the finish line.

On the appointed day, they started the race together. The tortoise moved steadily without stopping, maintaining a slow but consistent pace. The hare, confident in his natural speed, didn't take the race seriously. He lay down by the side of the road and fell fast asleep.

When he finally woke up, he ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. He saw the tortoise had already reached the finish line and was peacefully resting after her long journey. The hare learned a valuable lesson: slow and steady wins the race.

The hare and the tortoise

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there resided a haughty hare, who was immensely proud of his remarkable speed. He always boasted about it and mocked the tortoise, his neighbor, for being sluggish. The hare often belittled the tortoise by saying, “You have legs just like mine, but I am certain that you cannot run as fast as I do, or perhaps you cannot run at all.” Listening to this constant taunt, the tortoise got irked and responded by saying, “You can surely run fast, no doubt about that, but I think you can talk even faster than you can run.” Feeling challenged, the hare readily agreed to run a race with the tortoise. However, the hare was confident that the tortoise would not stand a chance against his swift speed. In a tone of ridicule, the hare said, “Friend tortoise, you are merely wasting your time and mine as well. You know my speed, and it would be as easy as picking some soft grass from the field to beat you in the race.” Undeterred, the tortoise responded by saying, “Indeed, I am aware of your speed, but there is one thing that I know, which you do not. And that’s precisely what I am going to take advantage of.”

After this, they both approached a wise fox and asked him to officiate their race. The fox agreed and laid down some rules for the race, and set the destination as well. Finally, the race commenced, and the hare began at a breakneck pace, leaving the tortoise far behind. The hare was supremely confident of his victory and stopped midway to rest, thinking to himself, “What a fool I am! I have run so fast for nothing. Why did I exert myself in the hot sun while that slow-moving tortoise is nowhere in sight? I should start running again when he is about to catch me, and until then, I can rest for a while.” As the hare was exhausted, he dozed off. On the other hand, the tortoise ran continuously, as fast as he could, without any pause. On his way, he stumbled upon the sleeping hare and silently moved ahead. When the hare woke up, he realized that the tortoise had already crossed the finish line, and he had lost the race. Feeling ashamed and embarrassed, the hare conceded defeat. The tortoise won the race, and he felt extremely content and proud of his accomplishment. From that day on, the hare learned that deeds matter more than words and that being overconfident could lead to one's downfall.

 A HARE AND A TORTOISE

One day a hare met a tortoise on the way. He laughed at the tortoise and said, “You have as many legs as I have. But I am sure; you cannot run as fast as I can. Perhaps, you cannot run at all.” The tortoise became very angry. He answered quietly. “You can run quite fast, no doubt. But I think, you can talk even faster than you can run.” “However, I agree to run a five mile race with you.” At this the hare was much amused. So she said, “come along, let’s fixed a date for the race.”

They fixed a date. A fox came to see the race. The tortoise and the hare came to the starting point; the race began. The hare began to run very fast. She jumped and jumped. She ran a mile in a few minutes. Soon she found the tortoise far behind her. Then she stopped. She said to herself, “ What’s the use of going so fast? Perhaps, the tortoise has gone only a few yards by this time. So, I can very well have a good sleep before he comes up.” Saying so, the hare went to sleep in a bush.

In the meantime, the tortoise walked on and on. He did not stop anywhere. When he came to bush, he saw the lazy hare lying fast asleep. He smiled and quietly passed by her. Many hours passed. The hare woke up. She saw that it was already evening. She immediately got on her feet. She began to run very fast. But alas! The tortoise had already gone far. She came in sight of the goal. But the tortoise was already crossing the winning post. The hare felt much ashamed. It reminds us that slow and steady wins the race.
