Ans.       The selfish giant

Once there was a selfish giant who had a beautiful garden. The garden was full of soft green grass. Here and there all over the grass stood many colorful flowers like stars. The garden was a nice playground for the beautiful children.
The giant was away staying at his friends place. When he came back he scared the children away from the garden. Now the children had no place to play and were sad. That year spring came all over the country but not in the giant's garden. It remained covered with snow frost and hail. No flowers bloomed neither did the birds sing.
One morning he found flowers in the garden, the birds singing and found children on the 1 branches of the trees. But there was still winter in one corner of the garden. There was a little boy in that corner who could not climb the trees. The giant came out and helped him to climb the tree.
He also played with the children. The little child kissed the giant. This melted the giant's heart. The children played everyday in the garden after school. One afternoon the little child was missing. The giant looked for him daily but couldn't find him. Years passed. The giant grew old and weak.
One winter morning that very child was again seen in the garden. The giant ran to him and found that-the child had prints of nails on his palms and feet. The child said that they were the wounds of love. He said he wanted to take him to his garden, which is the Paradise.
That afternoon the children found the giant lying dead and covered with flowers in 'the garden.

The Selfish Giant

Once upon a time, there was a selfish giant who owned a beautiful garden. The garden was filled with soft, green grass, and colorful flowers bloomed everywhere, making it look like a magical paradise. Birds chirped merrily, and the garden was the favorite playground for the village children.

For many years, the giant had been away, staying at a friend’s house. During his absence, the children enjoyed playing in the garden every day. However, when the giant returned, he was furious to see them there. He angrily chased them away and built a high wall around his garden, declaring that no one but he could enter.

With the children gone, the garden fell silent. Spring arrived across the land, bringing warmth and beauty, but the giant’s garden remained lifeless. Snow, frost, and hail took over, and the once-vibrant flowers refused to bloom. Birds no longer sang, and the trees stood bare. Without the laughter of children, the garden was stuck in eternal winter.

One morning, the giant woke up to the sound of birds singing sweetly. He looked outside and was amazed to see that his garden was alive again. Flowers had bloomed, and the trees were filled with happy children playing on their branches. However, he noticed that in one corner of the garden, it was still winter. A little boy stood there, struggling to climb a tree.

The sight of the helpless child melted the giant’s heart. He walked over, gently picked him up, and helped him climb the tree. As soon as the child reached the branch, spring finally arrived in that corner, too. Overcome with emotion, the giant realized how selfish he had been. He knocked down the wall and welcomed the children back to play in his garden whenever they wished. From that day onward, the children played there every afternoon after school.

However, the little boy whom the giant had helped disappeared. The giant searched for him daily, but he was nowhere to be found. Years passed, and the giant grew old and weak.

One winter morning, the same little child appeared in the garden again. Overjoyed, the giant ran to him but stopped in shock when he saw the child’s hands and feet marked with deep wounds. The giant was heartbroken and asked who had hurt him.

The child smiled warmly and said, “These are the wounds of love. I have come to take you with me to my garden—the Paradise.”

That afternoon, when the children came to play, they found the giant lying still beneath a tree, covered in beautiful white flowers. He had passed away peacefully, finally finding happiness and love in his last moments.
